Sunday Worship at Christ Church 

8 am - Holy Communion according to the Book of Common Prayer: a said service, lasting around half an hour, with a sermon of around 7 minutes.

10 am - Family Communion according to the Book of Common Worship. The service has a sermon, an organ, singing and Children's activities and lasts an hour to an hour and a quarter. We hope to Zoom this service. Music for the communion settings that we use is available at the back of church. 

Children's Activities

In school term, a Sunday School for 3 - 11 yr olds meets in rooms in the church during the 10 am service, joining the adults for communion. Parents can go in with their children if they would like. A Youth Group for 11-16 yr olds meets three times a term. There is also a children's corner with toys, books and colouring equipment for children of all ages in the main body of the church and toilet and nappy-changing facilities are available.

10 am - Sung Matins Occasionally, we are offering a service of Sung Matins according to the Book of Common Prayer. Please see the monthly services below to see if there is one this month.

6pm - Evening Prayer (from 19 October) on Zoom with a homily and music. 

6pm - BCP Evensong (from Easter until mid-October) in church and on Zoom with a homily and music. On 4 May, 1 June, 6 July, 7 September and 12 October, we are holding Come and Sing Choral Evensongs with a rehearsal at 4pm, Bring & Share Tea for choir and congregation at 5pm before the service at 6pm.

There is a hearing loop in church and large print hymn books, service books and notice sheets are available.

Gluten free wafers are available - please let a sides person or warden know if you'd like one 

With the exception of the 8am Holy Communion, we hope to Zoom services that are in Church, so people can still connect from home. We have installed equipment to make it easier to stream services and to allow people at home to take part in our services, eg by reading a lesson.

If you regularly join our 10am or 6pm service by Zoom please email or call Patrick, the Vicar, on 01603 250844 to organise to collect or have delivered copies of the service book and hymn book (Ancient & Modern: Hymns and Songs for Refreshing Worship). A list of the month's services, with hymn numbers, is given below. Where liturgy is available online a link is also given. 

Please be aware that recordings of Zoom services and of the 8am homily may be put on our Facebook page so that people may watch at a later date.

Morning Prayer is usually said via Zoom, Monday to Fridays at 9.00 am

There are Holy Communion services at Chiswick House, Christchurch Road, on the second Monday of each month and at The Hawthorns, Unthank Road, on the fourth Monday of each month

To join a Zoom service by telephone

To join by phone please simply dial one of the following UK numbers (calls charged at normal rates as far as we know). (You will need the meeting ID and password before calling.)

You will be prompted to enter the meeting ID followed by #

If asked for a participant ID simply press #

Then, when prompted, dial the meeting password followed by #

You will then be admitted to join the service and can hear what is going on.

To mute/unmute press * 6. To let the person hosting the service know you want to say something press * 9

If you know anyone who does not have email and might like to listen to the service, please give them a ring and pass on this information and the meeting ID and password
